The two types of resin surfacing are:
Resin Bound and Resin Bond
Resin Bound is where the aggregate is mixed in with the resin and applied to the surface with a trowel to give a nice smooth even finish. We would recommend this type of resin surfacing and it is a popular product for a driveway, path or patio.
Resin Bond is where the resin is applied to a surface and the aggregate is laid on the top. The aggregate adheres to the resin surface. Any excess aggregate is brushed away, the surface is rough and does not have the same consistancy or smoothness that resin bound provides.
There is a wide range of the choice of colour of the aggregate mix.
With both procedures the preparation is the same in that the area to apply the resin/mix must be properly constructed.
On some surfaces, like concrete or tarmacadam (tarmac), the area is cleaned and any cracks or holes are filled in. The area is brushed to remove any objects or stones etc. that shouldn't be there.
The resin mixture can then be applied to the surface.
If the original surface is not suitable to apply the resin, then it will be installed from scratch. This means digging the area out, laying hard core and levelling and impacting and installing a suitable top surface, before applying the resin mix.

Apart from the colour choices of the aggregate, there is also a choice of materials/products for the edgings.
Block pave edgings are a popular choice since there are a wide variety of colours and can compliment or contrast the main colour of the driveway, path or patio.
